Drug Addiction

Drug addiction help and alcoholism help is available for those persons desiring freedom from drug or alcohol addiction. A drug addict or alcoholic often times is resistant to entering rehab or participating in any type of drug and alcohol treatment. In these cases intervention is the key to opening the door to receive alcoholism help or drug addiction help, which then leads to successful recovery.

There are several options available for those persons not in denial that exhibit a willingness to deal with addiction or substance abuse issues. The most successful approach is to enter a residential drug and alcohol treatment program. These programs are generally 30 days in length and can be tailored to fit specific needs. Patients in need of detox services are given medication to stabilize vital functions for a period of 5-7 days. Some patients with a long history of alcohol or other drug abuse may need a longer detox period, in some cases up to two weeks. Following drug detox, patients enter residential treatment phase. This consists of daily groups, one on one therapy and daily activities. Patients are given nutritious meals, daily exercise regimens and outside activities to attend. Following 30 days of primary residential treatment, patients may opt to enter extended care. This is for a period of 30 to 90 additional days. Upon completion of extended care, patients may enter in to a sober living facility. At this point persons suffering from alcoholism help others to recieve treatment. This provides a good basis for ongoing recovery and may be necessary for some clients to continue this structure in order to have a strong foundation for recovery.
